GTA Online Beach Bum DLC going live next week
There
are interesting things happening in the world of GTA Online these days. Last
week, players who had suffered through the growing pains from the early days of
Online’s launch were gifted with $500k in cash to help smooth over any lost
progress. The options to spend that cash are kinda limited until you gain some
levels but I feel like the smart investment would be to hold onto that cash for
when the stock market comes online.
But
Rockstar is going to be giving players a handful of new toys to spend that
money on when the Beach Bum DLC update goes live on Nov. 19. All the content
for this pack is free of charge and will be added along with title update 1.06.
The Beach Bum pack includes two new weapons, four vehicles, five new missions
and a whole host of beach-inspired clothing options.
The
prospect of new, beach-themed vehicles caught my eye the most. Not that there
isn’t a wealth of cars to steal and buy in GTA Online, but it’s always fun to
play with new toys. The new vehicles are the BF Bifta dune buggy, Canis Kalahari
off-road truck, the Bravado Paradise beach camper van and the classic Speeder
speedboat. I’ll definitely look forward to trying out the new dune buggy and
the off-road truck could be pretty fun as well, especially up in the Sandy
Shores area. Vehicles can be purchased through the usual means and will be
available in the Story mode as well.
When
Rockstar announced that the Beach Bum pack would contain new missions, I was
hoping they would be the kind of missions offered through the many Online NPC
characters. Instead, we’re getting two new races – a bike race around Vespucci
beach and an off-road race through the wetlands of the Zancudo river – a parachute
mission over Vespucci, a survival mission on Del Perro Pier and a team
deathmatch in the northern town of Paleto Bay. It’s nice that Rockstar is
adding content for its various modes, but I’ll be much happier when heists
become available and I can set up jobs with my crew members.
The
remainder of the Beach Bum DLC features a new pistol, the compact SNS Pistol
and a dangerous new melee weapon, the Broken Bottle. These weapons will be free
at any Ammu-Nation and will be available in Story mode too. There isn’t any
specific details about the new clothing, but, considering the theme of the
pack, you can expect lots of bright colors, sandals, shorts, tank tops and
other beach wear.
Rockstar
also promises more content upcoming for GTA Online, including the Content
Creator, cooperative heists, GTA’s take on Capture The Flag and even teased
Story mode updates as well. Make sure to check back here to find out about any
new updates about future GTA Online content.
